U.S. Rep. Ken Buck joined all of Colorado’s Democratic U.S. House members in voting Tuesday for the successful ouster of Speaker Kevin McCarthy — a first in congressional history.<\/p>\n

The Republican from California lost a 216-210 vote to vacate the speaker’s chair, with eight hard-right Republicans, including Buck, joining 208 Democrats. The vote was prompted by discord within the Republican caucus that reached a climax over the weekend over McCarthy’s decision to work with Democrats to keep the federal government open, averting a shutdown.<\/p>\n
