At the first meeting of the Partnership Council since the end of the transition period at the end of last year, Lord Frost confronted European Commission Vice President Maroš Šefčovič over veiled threats issued by member states.

A UK government spokesman said: “On fisheries, the UK made clear that it will exercise regulatory autonomy within its waters, while continuing to take pragmatic steps to ease the transition to the new arrangements for EU fishermen including on licences.”
