A memo is being circulated among Conservative backbench MPs cataloguing 13 reasons to remove him from high office, branding him the “Conservative Corbyn”. The memo said: “The only way to restore Conservative fortunes to a point where we can win the next general election, is to remove Boris Johnson as prime minister.” The vote, which will take place between 6pm to 8pm this evening, needs 180 MPs to turn on Mr Johnson for him to be removed as leader.

Boris Johnson will face a vote of confidence in his leadership on Monday night, as MPs decide the Prime Minister’s fate.

Sir Graham Brady, chairman of the 1922 committee, has told Tory MPs the vote will take place between 6pm and 8pm tonight.

He announced this morning: “The threshold of 15 percent of the parliamentary party seeking a vote of confidence in the leader of the Conservative Party has been exceeded.”

Liz Truss declares support for Prime Minister ahead of landmark vote

Foreign Secretary Liz Truss has publically declared her support for Boris Johnson ahead of the landmark vote of no confidence to be held tonight. 

Ms Truss said: “The Prime Minister has my 100% backing in today’s vote and I strongly encourage colleagues to support him.

“He has delivered on covid recovery and supporting Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression. He has apologised for mistakes made.

“We must now focus on economic growth.”
