Blumhouse Games Brings In Louise Blain In First Creative-Side Hire Since Launch
EXCLUSIVE: Louise Blain is joining Blumhouse Games as Creative Lead, the company said Wednesday. In her new role, the journalist and radio host will work with the partners at the nascent division to bring their creative vision to life in their optimal form with a focus on narrative and world building. She’ll also help the studio to identify and vet potential partners and game ideas.
With more than 12 years of experience across magazines, online content and podcasts, Blain is dialed in to the horror genre. She also served as host of the BBC radio program Sound of Gaming.

“Louise brings an encyclopedic knowledge of horror across all media, particularly in video games,” said Blumhouse Games president Zach Wood. “Her creative lens and prior experience in genre perfectly aligns with our goal of delivering unique and creative horror game experiences to our audience.”
Added Blain: “As a big fan of Blumhouse horror in all its forms, I’m thrilled to be joining the games division. I’m really looking forward to working with our development partners to deliver even more frights.”
Blumhouse Games was established earlier this year when Wood and Don Sechler were named president and CFO, respectively. The subsidiary partners with independent game developers on original, horror-themed games for console, PC and mobile audiences.
In the spirit of its motion picture business, Blumhouse Games is targeting indie-budget games (below $10M) to enable innovation and push creative boundaries.
