7-Eleven Celebrates With Free Slurpees

7-Eleven is celebrating its birthday on Wednesday, July 11, by offering free Slurpees to customers at its stores from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The convenience store chain estimates that its participating stores in the U.S. will give away about 9 million free small Slurpee drinks by the end of the day. The Irving, Texas-based chain started the free Slurpee drink birthday tradition in 2002.

While customers can choose from a variety of Slurpee flavors, this year’s 7-Eleven Day featured Slurpee flavor is Cap’n Crunch’s Crunch Berries, recreated as a frozen treat from the cereal brand.

“7-Eleven Day is a celebration, not only of our birthday, but more importantly, of our customers. I encourage everyone to look around the store, grab an old favorite like a Big Bite hot dog to enjoy with their free Slurpee drink or maybe try something they haven’t,” said Raj Kapoor, 7-Eleven senior vice president for fresh food and proprietary beverages.

As part of celebrating the entire birthday week, the Slurpee celebration will be followed by “seven deals in seven days.” Slurpee drink fans will get an opportunity to try some of the newest 7-Eleven fresh food menu items, ranging from artisan sandwiches to decadent brownies.

The company has also introduced 7-Eleven Bistro sandwiches, which will be available nationwide at participating stores.

For members of its 7Rewards customer loyalty program, 7-Eleven is offering deals such as free 7-Select Pure water with purchase of a Bodyarmor sports drink on July 12, and free Big Gulp fountain drink with purchase of a share-size Snickers candy bar on July 13. The chain is offering different deals till July 18.

7-Eleven is also celebrating its birthday with $1 Big Bite hot dogs on July 11, and a week later on National Hot Dog Day, July 18.

This year’s featured Big Bite flavor is ‘The Reaper,’ a seriously spicy 7-Eleven exclusive hot dog made with 100 percent beef and topped with Carolina Reaper seasoning blend.
