USA TODAY Sports college football staff picks for Week 3 of the season
Sometimes the best weekends are the ones you don't expect to have a lot of drama.
If that's the case, college football fans should be in for a treat in Week 3. There's no games matching ranked opponents and no contests that have obvious College Football Playoff implications. But there's plenty of interesting rivalry and conference showdowns that have potential to make things interesting.
No. 1 Clemson had a hard time dealing with Syracuse the past two seasons, losing once and barely surviving at home last season. The Tigers travel to face the Orange, who will be looking to bounce back after a poor effort against Maryland last week.

Other intriguing conference matchups have No. 6 Ohio State visiting Indiana and No. 8 Florida heading to Kentucky. If in-state rivalries are your thing, there's Iowa State hosting No. 18 Iowa and No. 11 Penn State facing off with Pittsburgh.
